Mars Red Oxblood is a dull maroon-violet that is darker and more violet in its undertone than India Red.

Artist Notes:  Mars Red Oxblood is a deep, moody hue that is versatile in landscapes, botanicals, and wildlife painting. 

Paint Maker’s Notes:  Developed at the end of the 18 th  century in response to depleted natural pigment deposits, synthetic iron oxides were given the name ‘Mars’ after the Roman god of war and our planetary neighbour which has almost double the amount of iron oxide in its outer layers than our own.
