A rich dark brown single pigment colour. Burnt umber is made from natural brown clays found in the earth and is named after Umbria, a region in Italy where it was first mined. Burning the raw pigment intensifies its colour (Series 1)

Impasto applications retain crisp brush stroke and knife marks. Good surface drag provides excellent handling and blending characteristics with increased open-working time.
