CloseBlack ink was known as masi in India: a mixture of different ashes, water and glue; a formula we follow in our Liquid Indian Ink. It was only in the mid-17th century, when Europe began importing ink from India, that it became known as Indian ink. Our Drawing Inks have been used by illustrators since their introduction by Winsor & Newton in the 1890’s, and our main priority has always been quality of colour. This ink can be applied with a brush or dip pen.
Due to extreme cold temperatures increasing the risk of the jars breaking in shipping, we will only mail ink bottles when the forecast is above freezing for the duration of travel. If you wish to pay for overnight shipping we will do so but at your own risk and expense.
